Highlights of May 1st (Th), 2008
Conference Banquet
Pacific Beach Hotel, Waikiki

Thursday ended with the conference banquet in the Grand Ballroom - Mauka. Ray Matasci served as the banquet master of ceremonies. AWWA Vice-President Craig Woolard and wife Lisa were presented with a Hawaiian quilt and music CDs from the Hawaii Section. AWWA Deputy Executive Director Paula MacIlwaine was also presented with the same gifts, courtesy of the Hawaii Section. Ray Matasci then installed the new section officers: Chair Woodie Muirhead, Vice-Chair Daryl Hiromoto, Secretary Jo-Ann Taniguchi, Treasurer Rick Sumada, Director Elson Gushiken, BWS Trustee Susan Uyesugi, Water Utility Trustee Ken Kawahara, Consultant Trustee Audrey Yokota, Manufacturer/ Supplier Trustee Ken Ota, Government Trustee Larry Beck, At-Large Trustee (Conference) Roy Silva, At-Large Trustee (Administrative and Policy Council) Garret Matsunami, and Immediate Past Chair Jon Muraoka.

Past recipients of the George Warren Fuller Award were then called to the stage to be recognized. This year's award was presented posthumously to Mr. Clifford Jamile, former Manager and Chief Engineer of the Honolulu Board of Water Supply. His son Kala accepted the award on behalf of Mr. Jamile. AWWA Hawaii Life Members were also recognized during the banquet. Congratulations to new life members Adam Coelho, Jr, Douglas Kamiya, Jon Nishimura, Kenneth Sakai, and William Thompson.
