2007 GEORGE WARREN FULLER & SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARDEE

The 2007 Hawaii Section Fuller and Special Recognition Awardee is Ms. Susan Uyesugi. Susan is a Civil Engineer V at the Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) and has the proud distinction as being the first women engineer at BWS. In addition to her BWS responsibilities as Customer Information System (CIS) Project Manager for the Customer Care Division, Susan also serves as the Drinking Water State Revolving Funds Coordinator.    In 1996, she was named as one of the Outstanding AWWA Hawaii Section members.

In addition to Susan's tireless service to the AWWA Hawaii Section during the past year, she was heavily involved in the planning of the AWWA Winter Board Meeting in Honolulu, which also earned her a Special Recognition Award from the AWWA Hawaii Section.  She has served the AWWA Hawaii Section as an officer since 1994 and is currently its Section Director.  She has always ensured that the AWWA Hawaii Section is represented well, in terms of recognition at the AWWA level, and provides guidance to the AWWA Hawaii Section Board in their decision-making processes.

2007 OUTSTANDING SECTION MEMBER AWARDEE

The Outstanding Section Member Award is presented to a member who through his/her interest and demonstrated activity has contributed significantly to the progress and well-being of the AWWA Hawaii Section, but who has not otherwise previously been recognized. This year's recipient is Ms. Sheryl Suzuki of the Honolulu Board of Water Supply.

Each year, Sheryl donates her time and graphic production skills and expertise to produce the printed materials for the AWWA Hawaii Section Conference, including the Program booklet, signage and materials.  She also helps with conference coordination, registration, and other Section activities such as the Water for People fundraising booth and golf tournaments.

2007 AWWA GOLD WATER DROP AWARDEES

Congratulations to Katsuyoshi Kadota, Norman MacRitchie, and Leroy Rathburn, recipients of the Gold Water Drop Award for 50 years of continuous membership.

2007 AWWA LIFE MEMBERS

This year, a total of nineteen AWWA Hawaii members were recognized with Life Memberships at the 2007 AWWA Hawaii Section Conference. This award recognizes people who have been a member of AWWA for 30 years. This year's recipients include Joseph Anakalea, Thomas Arizumi, Wayne Hinazumi, Clifford Jamile, George Kaauwai Jr, Ian Kagimoto, Donald Kawakami, James Kumagai, Wilbert Lee, Alexander Leong, Kenneth Nagatani, Guy Nomura, Donald Okuhara, H. William Sewake, Rose Shimabukuro, Melvin Suzuki, Melvin Tomita, Juan Tenorio, and Richard Teruya.
