2005 GEORGE WARREN FULLER AWARDEE

2005 FullerAwardee Paul SeitzThe 2005 recipient of the George Warren Fuller Award is Mr. Paul Seitz, Water Treatment Facility Manager for the County of Maui Department of Water Supply. Mr. Seitz began his career in 1979 as Manager of Kapalua Utilities and then as Water Resources Manager for Maui Pineapple Company in 1992. In 1994, Mr. Seitz moved to the County of Maui Department of Water Supply as the Manager for the Department’s Water Treatment Plant Operations.

As a member of the AWWA Hawaii Section since 1980, Mr. Seitz has served in a multitude of positions within the organization. Mr. Seitz has held the following positions within the Hawaii Section:

Mr. Seitz has proven to be dedicated and knowledgeable in water-related projects throughout his career. He was instrumental in developing the Small Water Systems program in Hawaii.

Mr. Seitz received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Chaminade University. He was named the AWWA Outstanding Section (Hawaii) member in 1998 and is also a member of the Hawaii Water Works Association (HWWA). He holds a Hawaii State Wastewater Treatment Operators License (Grade 4), a Hawaii State Water Treatment Operator’s License (Grade 2), and a Distribution Systems Operator’s License (Grade 4). Mr. Seitz also serves as President of Horizons Academy School on Maui.

The Outstanding Section Member Award is presented to a member who through his/her interest and demonstrated activity has contributed significantly to the progress and well-being of the AWWA Hawaii Section, but who has not otherwise previously been recognized. This year's recipients are:

Ms. McKee has been the newsletter editor for the last three years and has consistently put together a quality newsletter for the Section. Mr. Kaneko has spent many years volunteering his time for the Section in a multitude of positions, including:

2005 AWWA LIFE MEMBER

Dr. LauDr. Stephen Lau, Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Engineering, was named a Life Member of the American Water Works Association. This award recognizes persons who have been a member of AWWA for 30 years. Dr. Lau joined AWWA in 1975 and is one of the charter members of the Hawaii Section. Dr. Lau is pictured on the left receiving his recognition plaque from AWWA Past-President Marlay Price.
