2005 ACE WOMEN'S PIPETAPPING CHAMPS >>

124th Annual AWWA Conference & Exposition
June 12 - 16, 2005
Moscone Center, San Francisco

The winners of the Women's pipe tapping contest at the 31st Annual AWWA Hawaii Section conference also took top honors at the national level. Na Wahine O Ka Wai, comprised of employees from the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, took first place with a winning time of 1 minute, 50.41 seconds. The team is comprised of members Danielle Ornellas, Anna Tanaka, and Carloyn Sawai, and is coached by Gary Fernandez. The final results of the women's pipe tapping competition was as follows:

The men's team team, also from the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, competed in the men's event but unfortunately, did not place in the top three. The Men's team members included Aaron Asato, Andrew Freitas, Glenn Ah Yat, and coach Derrick Tsukada.

Mayor's Commendation

On July 15, 2005, the Honorable Mufi Hannemann, Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, presented Certificates of Commendation to members of Na Wahine O Ka Wai for their accomplishments at the National Conference. Congratulations to team members Danielle Ornellas, Anna Tanaka, and Carloyn Sawai, and coach Gary Fernandez for their great achievement.
